Guide to ABET Accreditation

The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) is the primary source for evaluating engineering and related academic programs.  ABET divides the surveying world into three main groups:

Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) - includes Baccalaurate (4-year) Degree programs in Surveying Engineering.

Technology Accreditation Commission (TAC) - includes Surveying Technology programs, with Associate Degree (2-year) programs; and Surveying Engineering Technology, usually Baccalaurate Degrees.

Applied Science Commission (ASAC) - includes Baccalaurate (4-year) Degree programs in Engineering-Related programs, such as Surveying and Mapping.

ACSM (American Congress on Surveying and Mapping) serves as the lead society for evaluating programs in all three of these areas.  For more information, visit the ABET website at http://www.abet.org/
